A Carnival wedding turns one incredible day into an entire vacation worth celebrating.

Exchange vows before the ship sets sail, say “I do” while you're cruising, celebrate aboard the ship in a beautiful port, or take your ceremony ashore in a destination you'll never forget. However you picture the moment, your wedding can become the beginning of a honeymoon—and a vacation your favorite people get to share with you.

Important Carnival Wedding Package Details

Wedding Scheduling: Ceremony dates, times, venues, and reception locations are based on availability and are coordinated as part of the wedding-planning process. Specific onboard venues cannot always be guaranteed in advance.

Guest Counts: Package guest requirements vary. The Signature Ceremony includes up to 10 guests, including the couple, while It’s a Celebration! requires a minimum of 20 guests, including the couple. Additional-guest charges may apply.

Embarkation Weddings & Non-Sailing Guests: The wedding couple must sail. Carnival allows up to 50 non-sailing guests in most embarkation ports, subject to port, ship, security, venue-capacity, and wedding arrangements. Non-sailing guests must follow Carnival's required embarkation procedures.

Destination Weddings: Love Ashore locations, transportation, guest charges, and available services vary by destination. Shoreside beach venues may not be private, and destination weddings are subject to itinerary and port conditions.

Photography: Photography service may be included with a wedding package, but this does not necessarily include all photographs taken. Additional photographs and photography packages are available for purchase. Certain included enhancements, such as a canvas, require the purchase of a qualifying photography package.

Wedding Cake & Toast: Cake size and service vary by package. Sparkling-wine or champagne toast inclusions also vary by package and guest count.

Reception Availability: A wedding reception is available with the It’s a Celebration! package. The included reception is one hour, with extensions potentially available in 30-minute increments depending on venue availability and Carnival's current policies.

Legal Marriage Requirements: Marriage-license requirements, legal ceremony availability, documentation, deadlines, and associated fees vary depending on where the ceremony takes place. Couples should confirm the requirements applicable to their specific wedding location well in advance.

Diamond Enhancement Package: The $399 Diamond Enhancement Package is an optional wedding enhancement, not a standalone ceremony package, and Carnival identifies it as non-refundable.

Please Note: Wedding package pricing, inclusions, additional-guest charges, venues, menus, photography, transportation, enhancements, legal requirements, taxes, and availability are subject to change. Final arrangements and pricing should always be confirmed with Carnival's wedding team for the couple's specific ship, sailing, and destination.

Celebrate After the “I Do”
The ceremony may be the reason everyone gathered, but that doesn't mean the celebration has to stop when the vows are over.

Carnival's It’s a Celebration! wedding package includes a one-hour onboard reception, giving you and your guests time to eat, drink, toast, dance, cut the cake, and celebrate together before getting back to the rest of the cruise.

Your Reception Includes

One-Hour Private Reception
Celebrate with your guests in an assigned onboard reception venue following the ceremony.

Carnival provides a selection of hot and cold hors d'oeuvres during the reception, with menu selections made as part of the wedding-planning process.

Adult guests can enjoy a selection of spirits, red and white wine, sparkling wine, domestic and imported beer, while non-alcoholic selections include soda, coffee, and tea.

Your Own Specialty Cocktail
Add a personal touch by selecting a specialty cocktail for the reception and giving it a name inspired by the two of you.

Wedding Cake & Toast
Your wedding cake becomes part of the reception celebration, along with a sparkling-wine toast for eligible adult guests.

Music & Celebration
Music helps turn the reception into an actual party, with entertainment options available depending on the couple's selections, ship, venue, and availability.

Want to Keep the Party Going?

Carnival currently allows reception time to be extended in 30-minute increments, subject to venue availability and additional charges.

For weddings that include non-sailing guests, total reception time cannot exceed 1½ hours, since those guests must disembark before the ship sails.

Good to Know

Reception service is tied specifically to the It’s a Celebration! wedding package. Menu selections, beverages, entertainment, venue assignments, reception extensions, taxes, and additional charges are subject to Carnival's current offerings and availability for the specific ship and sailing.

Good to Know

Beverage selections, brands, availability, service, and applicable restrictions are subject to change and may vary by ship and sailing. Alcoholic beverages are served only to guests who meet Carnival's applicable age requirements.

Turn Up the Celebration
From the walk down the aisle to the party afterward, music helps set the mood for your wedding day.

Carnival includes pre-recorded ceremony music with its wedding packages, and couples choosing It’s a Celebration! can add reception entertainment to keep the celebration going.

Ceremony Music

Pre-recorded ceremony music is included with Carnival wedding packages, giving you a soundtrack for those important moments—from the processional to the newlywed exit.

Reception Entertainment

Want more energy after the vows? Reception entertainment starts at $200 according to Carnival's current wedding brochure and is coordinated through the shipboard Social Hostess.

Good to Know: Reception entertainment is an optional enhancement and is not available with the Signature Ceremony package. Entertainment options, pricing and availability may vary by ship and sailing, so final arrangements should be confirmed during the wedding-planning process.

Start the Love Story at Sea
A cruise doesn’t have to come after the proposal—it can be where the next chapter begins.

Whether you’re imagining a quiet question with the ocean behind you, a romantic dinner followed by the big surprise, or a celebration with family and friends waiting nearby, a Carnival cruise gives you plenty of ways to turn your proposal into part of an unforgettable vacation.

Plan the Perfect Moment

Your proposal can be as simple or elaborate as the two of you. Think sunset views from the ship, a special dinner, a favorite port of call, a private moment on deck, or a surprise celebration afterward.

DreamCrafters can help you choose the right ship and itinerary and plan the cruise around the kind of proposal experience you have in mind.

Celebrate the “YES!”

Once the question has been popped, keep celebrating. Enjoy dinner together, raise a glass, book a couples spa treatment, plan romantic photos around the ship, or spend the rest of the cruise enjoying your first vacation as an engaged couple.

Good to Know

Proposal ideas and experiences depend on the ship, itinerary, venue availability and any separately purchased cruise amenities or services. Specific locations, private arrangements or special requests should be confirmed before promising a particular experience.

Carnival Cruise Weddings — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know Before Saying “I Do” at Sea

Do we have to sail on the cruise to have a Carnival wedding?

Yes. The wedding couple must sail on the cruise. Depending on the ceremony type and embarkation port, non-sailing guests may be permitted to attend the wedding before the ship departs.

Can we invite guests who aren't cruising with us?

Yes, for eligible embarkation-day weddings. Carnival allows up to 50 non-sailing guests in most embarkation ports, subject to port, ship, security, venue, and capacity restrictions.

Non-sailing guests are not permitted for shipboard wedding functions in certain ports, so availability should always be confirmed before finalizing your guest list.

Can we get married while the ship is at sea?

Yes, on select ships and sailing dates. Carnival offers symbolic Wedding at Sea ceremonies, which are not legally binding.

Couples choosing this option must provide proof of their legal marriage before sailing.

Who performs the wedding ceremony?

For most Carnival wedding ceremonies, a local officiant performs the ceremony.

For symbolic Wedding at Sea ceremonies, the ceremony is conducted by an assigned shipboard officer or member of management.

How long is the wedding ceremony?

Carnival wedding ceremonies are generally approximately 15–20 minutes.

What time will our wedding take place?

In most ports, Carnival weddings are scheduled at approximately 12:30 PM, although the actual ceremony time depends on the ship, port, wedding arrangements, and operational schedule.

Your final wedding schedule and arrival instructions will be provided during the planning process.

Do we have to have a reception?

No. A larger reception is not required.

Carnival wedding packages include a wedding cake and sparkling-wine toast as specified by the selected package. Couples who want a larger celebration after the ceremony can choose It’s a Celebration!, which includes a one-hour reception.

Can our reception be longer than one hour?

Yes, subject to venue availability. Reception time may be extended in 30-minute increments for an additional charge.

For weddings that include non-sailing guests, the reception cannot exceed 1½ hours.

Is cruise fare included in the wedding package?

No. Cruise fare is separate from the cost of the wedding package.

Because wedding availability is limited, Carnival recommends confirming that your desired wedding date and sailing are available before finalizing your cruise arrangements.

How far in advance should we reserve our wedding?

Carnival requires wedding reservations to be made at least 60 business days before sailing.

Wedding dates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and availability is limited, so planning earlier is strongly recommended.

How is our ceremony location selected?

Carnival determines shipboard ceremony and reception locations based on factors such as your guest count, wedding package, reception arrangements, ship, and available venues.

Specific locations are subject to availability and operational requirements.

When is our final guest list due?

The final guest list and payment for additional guests are due no later than 35 business days before sailing.

Changes made within 35 business days may result in a $50 processing fee, and Carnival does not permit guest-list changes or additions within 10 business days of sailing.

Should we arrive in the embarkation city the day before the cruise?

Yes—Carnival strongly recommends arriving at least one day before sailing.

Flight delays, cancellations, traffic, weather, and other unexpected travel problems can interfere with an embarkation-day wedding. Arriving early gives you extra protection against those last-minute travel headaches.

Carnival also notes that its standard cruise transfer service may not get wedding parties to the pier early enough for wedding-day embarkation requirements, so transportation should be planned accordingly.

Can same-sex couples have a Carnival wedding?

Yes. Carnival welcomes same-sex couples.

However, marriage laws and ceremony requirements vary by destination. Whether a ceremony can be legally recognized—or, in some destinations, performed symbolically—depends on local laws and regulations.

What happens if our itinerary or wedding destination changes?

Cruise itineraries and ports of call are subject to change. This is especially important for destination weddings because a change in itinerary could affect the ceremony location, legal requirements, transportation, or other arrangements.

If a scheduled destination becomes unavailable, wedding arrangements may need to be modified according to Carnival's wedding policies and the available alternatives.

Can we bring our own wedding vendors onboard?

Carnival has specific policies regarding outside wedding vendors and services. Third-party wedding services generally cannot simply be brought onboard or substituted for Carnival's contracted wedding services without authorization.

If you are considering an outside photographer, florist, decorator, entertainer, or other wedding professional, this should be discussed and approved during the planning process before making any outside commitments.

Do wedding couples receive priority embarkation?

For eligible embarkation-day weddings, Carnival's wedding packages include priority embarkation assistance for the wedding couple and applicable wedding party arrangements.

Exact arrival times, documentation, check-in procedures, and instructions will be provided before sailing.

What happens if one of our guests doesn't show up?

Carnival's wedding guest counts and charges are based on the finalized arrangements submitted before sailing. No-shows should not be assumed to result in a refund or reduction in wedding charges.

Final guest counts should therefore be reviewed carefully before the applicable deadline.

When should we send our wedding invitations?

Because cruise weddings involve both wedding arrangements and travel plans, guests should be given plenty of time to reserve their cruise, arrange transportation, request time away from work, and complete any necessary travel documentation.

For non-sailing wedding guests, wait until Carnival's applicable guest policies and your wedding arrangements are confirmed before promising access to the ship.
